Valentine's Day Treats.

When I was a kid, and even now, my parents would put a Valentine's Day treat on our door-step, ring the bell and run inside just in time to see our faces when we saw the treasures waiting for us. Sometimes it would be a box of hearts, sometimes cupcakes or cookies. But it would always be accompanied by a card or a note saying how much they loved us and how special we were to them. I loved it as a kid and 20+ years later my mom is still delivering and I still love it. This year I got laffy taffy (my favorite) and the kids each got balloons and a card. I have decided that I want to carry on this same tradition for my kids.

This year Lola got a rattle/ball. She was pretty excited to get a toy that she could not only hold but chew on as well.

Owen got a movie, this was him from the moment we put it in until it was over.

This is the movie he got. Madagasagar 2. He loves anything to do with animals.

Here are the two of them watching it together. Apparently it was a pretty intense part.
I love Valentine's Day, and I'm glad that I got to spend it with the people I love the most.

I love Valentine's for the very reason you just posted--my parents made sure that Valentine's wasn't about _just_ romantic love, it's about ALL the people you love. We've started a tradition of writing our kids letters for their birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's, just letting them know how much we love them.
(Jonah looked at your blog with me and said, "Owen!" So cute!)

Mommy Joel Stephens, you are the best. I love checking your blog. The thought of you doorbell ditching your own house makes me smile.
